Radically Human Legal Hour

Wed, May 18

|

zoom meeting

Take off your robes, put your files away. Pause and let your lawyer-brain rest; get away from solving other people’s problems and the right v. wrong mindset. Connect with others who want to exercise the “other side” of the brain, and simply be a radically human lawyer.

About the event

Lessons from Lawyers & Leaders in Family Law: Bringing humanity to the practice of law in the face of conflict

Join us on May 18th at noon Mountain Time to listen, reflect, learn and share!

Our Architects, Karmen Masson is welcoming Laura Bruyer, Q.C., founding partner of Bruyer & Mackay LLP, recipient of the 2021 Women in Law Leadership Law Firm Award (Alberta)

Laura Bruyer, Q.C. is a partner in Bruyer & Mackay LLP, recipient of the 2021 Women in Law Leadership Law Firm Award (Alberta). Laura and her partners lead a team of over 30 lawyers and support staff, helping their clients to transform disputes into agreements. When efforts to help clients find alternatives to court are exhausted, Laura serves as a strong and compassionate litigator. She has appeared before the Court of Appeal of Alberta more than 25 times and runs at least 6 family trials/hearings each year in which oral evidence is called. She is an impactful mentor both within her firm and more broadly through her regular contributions to the advancement of legal education through writing and serving as a sessional lecturer at the University of Alberta Faculty of Law.

Conflict can take a toll on people, whether they are personally involved in the situation or are trained professionals working towards a resolution. While legal disputes can be devastating, confusing and overwhelming, Laura Bruyer, Q.C. and the team at Bruyer & Mackay LLP believe that it does not have to be that way. Whether they are engaging with colleagues on the other side of a file, empowering clients to collaborate or negotiate in productive ways, or supporting team members through challenges, they are guided by compassion, courage, support, trust, leadership, and accountability.

How do these radically human lawyers and leaders in law manage conflict and bring humanity to the practice of law?

Join us on Wednesday, May 18th at 12:00 p.m. to learn how they do just that.
