About the event

Margie Sills-Maerov and the Thought Architects' team invite you to sit around our virtual campfire with one of the most incredible facilitators and coaches we have ever seen, Carolyn McKanders.

Carolyn McKanders, MA, MSW is Director Emeritus for Thinking Collaborative, and is Co-Founder, along with Michael Dolcemascolo, of The Center for Adaptive Schools. She is also a family and women’s counselor. From her counseling experience she brings to her work a deep belief in the unlimited capacity and resilience of the human spirit.

With her 28 years of experience in the Detroit Public Schools as a teacher, counselor, program administrator, and staff-development specialist., Carolyn has taken that rich experience and now specializes in individual, group and organization development. Her passion is supporting quality human relationships through promoting self-love, communication, collaboration and leadership- skills development.

For those of you who have been lucky enough to see her in action, she presents, teaches and facilitates in ways that honour equity, inclusion, and diverse voices. Her gentle nature and good humour make her sessions rich, thoughtful and full of joy.

Carolyn and Bob Garmston are excited to announce the publication of their new book: “It’s Your Turn: Teachers As Facilitators”. This work provides teacher leaders and others with robust mental models and practical tools for conducting productive collaborative meetings. The book could easily be titled “Leader as Facilitator” as it is a practical and impactful guide to support leaders in any role to bring out the best in teams.

You are invited to listen, get curious, and expand your thinking. You share if you feel like it; your presence is a gift.
